Multibody dynamics · desktop

Build, run and understand mechanisms and vehicles.

Dynatlas is a desktop studio for multibody dynamics on the open-source Project Chrono engine. Model by clicking, import existing MSC Adams decks, run static, kinematic, dynamic and modal analyses, and study synchronized plots and 3D animation.

Three ways in

Vehicles: from wizard to manoeuvre

  • New Vehicle wizard: suspension, steering, driveline and Pacejka tires from a library.
  • Standard events: step steer, lane change, braking, constant radius.
  • Starts from static equilibrium on the tires, at the target speed.
  • Playback starts automatically; the camera follows the chassis.

Mechanisms the way Adams/View users expect

  • Links, joints, motions, springs, bushings and contacts from the ribbon.
  • Expressions for motions and forces (360*DTOR*time).
  • Degree-of-freedom counter and redundant-constraint report.
  • Kinematic analysis with joint reactions.

Bring your Adams models

  • Reads .adm decks: parts, markers, joints including CONVEL, motions, forces, variables, splines, bushings.
  • Adams Car vehicles from their own files (.adm, .tir, road, events) — not converted to a template.
  • Anything not imported is listed by name; nothing is dropped silently.
  • Models can be exported back to .adm.

Results

See what happened

Plot any channel against time or another channel, compare runs, take derivatives, integrals and FFTs, read statistics, export CSV and PNG, record animations.

Validation

Compared against Adams, channel by channel

An Adams Car demo vehicle (double wishbone front and rear, PAC89 tires) is imported from its own files and run through the same events. Difference = Dynatlas − Adams, solver step 1 ms.

EventQuantityDifference
StaticTire loads; front / rear spring length≤ 0.03 %
Straight run, 22.2 m/sTotal tire load0.03 %
Step steer, 45°Steady-state yaw rate+0.44 %
Single lane changeYaw-rate peaks+0.19 % / −0.09 %
Straight braking, 60 %Mean deceleration+0.34 %
Constant radius, 40 mUndersteer gradient+3.01 %

Open items are documented, not hidden — for example a +3.5 % difference in steady-state sideslip on step steer. Run times are still well above Adams on the same events; performance work is ongoing and every change is measured.

How we build

An AI-native engineering process

Agent team on Claude

Development runs as a multi-agent workflow on Claude Code: a planning session, implementation agents and an independent reviewer that checks every change before it is merged.

Tests as the contract

Every task ends with the full test suite green — about 12,000 tests, with analytical comparisons preferred over snapshot values.

Measured, not claimed

Accuracy and speed changes are measured against closed-form solutions and Adams results, and recorded with the numbers before and after.

About

Built in Istanbul

Dynatlas is an early-stage, solo-founder venture by Eyyüp İlhan. The goal: make professional multibody and vehicle dynamics simulation affordable, open and scriptable.
